Joy of Surrender

I filled the first part of my life with self-directed efforts to get control and improve myself. I continuously listened to self-help tape programs by such people as Earl Nightingale, Dale Carnegie, and Tony Robbins. I wasn’t satisfied with the type of person I was, so I looked to these people to help me get control of my life.

I’m now at a weird place, a place I never thought I’d be. Now, I don’t want control. Control is too stressful… things don’t always go my way. Control is a burden… too much responsibility. So now, I daily pray for God to take full control of my life. I just want to sit back, relax, and follow God’s lead.

Some days are relaxing in this way, no matter what chaos is going on around me, but not all. I’m still a work in progress, daily striving to give up control… to God. And I’m so grateful that He’s patient with me.

I love writing - it gets me out of bed when it's way too dark, just so I can do some writing before heading off to work. I write because I’m passionate about God, Jesus, His Spirit, and His truth. And, I feel the Holy Spirit gets shortchanged in the world we call Christianity. The truth is sometimes lacking too.

It is so ironic as God does not want, and will not control your life. God gave us freedom of choice so we could control our own destiny. Perhaps the difficulty is listening to self. We often struggle with our inner voice, failing to hear clearly the message we give ourselves.
We should learn to understand first who we are and then we need to learn how to love that person we are. When we are able to accomplish this we will gain a better picture of the journey in front of us. Perhaps we will discover that we really don’t need anyone to control us, instead we just need to understand how to live.
    God loves you always
