Beneath the Graffiti; A De-churched Christian’s Search for Christianity

Do you sense something is wrong with Christianity? Yes, churches don’t always practice what Jesus preached. And what many people experience is definitely not the Christianity that Jesus lived and taught. But would you like to experience the real thing, untainted by 2000 years of human influence?

Jesus Christ created a masterpiece when He lived and taught what came to be called Christianity. Then, over the centuries, churches splattered graffiti on Jesus’ masterpiece, graffiti in the form of their manmade rules and traditions, beliefs and doctrines, priorities and purposes. Today, in some churches Jesus’ masterpiece is barely visible. Scraping off the graffiti, this book reveals the authentic Christianity of the Bible, unspoiled by church history and human nature—it reveals the masterpiece.

But more than that, within the pages of this book you will find:

  • Where our faith in Jesus assures our eternal life in heaven, our relationship with His Spirit will determine the quality of our life while still on earth.
  • Jesus’ Christianity is all about reconciliation and an intimate and supernatural relationship with God via the Holy Spirit’s presence within us.
  • Where manmade versions of Christianity often inflict wounds, Jesus’ Christianity heals wounds.
  • The reason for the feebleness and failure of modern churches is the absence of the Holy Spirit. As a person’s body without their spirit is dead, so too is a Christianity without the Holy Spirit.
  • Jesus calls us to worship God not from the center of a sanctuary surrounded by the sights and sounds of the material world, but from the center of our souls surrounded by the presence of the Holy Spirit.

This and much more waits for you beneath the graffiti.

Whether you’re a devout churchgoer, a church refugee, or an outsider curious enough to peek inside, if questions linger about the truth and authenticity of the Christianity you’ve experienced, with the help of this book you too can encounter Jesus’ masterpiece. And in doing so also find fulfillment in Jesus’ promise, that “the truth will set you free.”

We Called Him Yeshua

Step back in time to Jesus’ world, and follow Him as He travels the dusty road to Jerusalem. For those who did follow, they followed Him to the end, though for them, that end was a new beginning.

“It can be hard feeling close to God. The divine can feel intimidating and unapproachable. Yet it was easy feeling close to Yeshua, for though he was both God and human, to us he felt more human. You may know of him by his divinity and his Greek name, Jesus Christ. We knew him mostly by his humanity and his Hebrew name, Yeshua. You may know about him by what you read in the Bible or hear in a sermon. We knew him by his presence in our lives. My name is Anna, and along with my brother Neri and the others, I’d like to tell you about our time with Yeshua. We’d like to show you what it was like and how it felt to follow him.”

Based on stories in the Bible, We Called Him Yeshua imagines following Jesus Christ as he traveled the dusty roads of ancient Israel. Told from the perspective of those who followed, their stories will help you see what they saw, feel what they felt, and experience Jesus as they did.  What they experienced was not only the healing power of God, but also the love, compassion, and humility of a friend.

When they first met Jesus, they felt almost like life was beginning anew. Then, they followed Him to the end. And for them, that end was another new beginning.
