Hi Blogging Friend

This blogging thing is weird.

Friends made, not seen.

I notice you when you visit,

when you “like” one of my posts for some reason.

Your familiar postage-stamp image brings me a smile.

Comments help me know you better.

And sometimes I visit your blog home,

and hang out with you for a bit.

I feel we could be friends.

In a way, we are.

But it’s not the same.

It feels hollow; reality is missing.

A friend made, yet not seen.

This blogging thing is weird.

My heart wants more than this.

I think I need a hug.

Blogging Friends

My blog friends filled my thoughts as I filled my mug with coffee this morning. We’ve never met in person, but I see you whenever you “like” or comment on one of my posts. I smile when I see your familiar name and image show up in my email, announcing your visit to my blog. I feel we know each other in a small way.

And as I thought of you this morning, I became filled with gratitude. I’m grateful for you and your visits. I’m grateful for your friendship, unconventional as it is. And I’m grateful for Jesus, for He brought us together. It was our mutual relationships with Jesus that connected us via this intangible, untouchable realm called the Internet.

And now I’m thinking… Jesus is all about relationships, and friendships. He promised He will be our friend, if we believe in Him. And I now see Him using manmade things such as the Internet to help make other friendships, such as yours and mine. That’s kind of cool.

But back to my original thought… thank you blogging friend. Thanks for your visits. I hope you have a great day.

Thank You to all TSS Followers

I’ve been writing about thankfulness recently. And I have been struck with a wave of gratitude for all of you who follow this blog. And today, I feel especially grateful for all who have been following “The Spirit Speaks…” series of posts.

I feel incredibly grateful for two things: first, that Jesus is writing these with me (I couldn’t do this alone); and second, that many of you seem to be benefiting from these posts in some way. I write these for you.

So again, thank you so much for following these posts. I recognize your names when you comment on or Like a post. You feel like a friend to me, every time I see your name on my computer screen. Thank you friend.

The Spirit Speaks – To My Friend

Friend

Dear friend,

I, the Spirit of Jesus Christ, am your friend; your best friend. A true friend is someone who is always there for you, when you need them. You can tell them anything… your problems, your joys, your worries, your criticisms… and they will not judge, they will not correct you, they will not pretend they have all the answers. But they will listen, and they will understand, and sometimes they may give you gentle advice that is sincere and loving and truly helpful. I am such a friend, for you.

Please look into your heart and see that you’re not alone, ever. I am with you always. Whether you feel my presence or not, I am here, within you. I will never leave you.

How does it feel to have the Spirit of God, the creator of all that exists, as your best friend, living within you, sharing your life, your joys and pains, with you?

The Spirit Speaks – of Friendship

Friendship

As you walk along this journey of life and follow the path before you, what markers on your trail shine brightest as the most meaningful times of your life? For me, the Spirit of Jesus Christ, though my journey on this earth was short, the most meaningful moments were the intimate times with my friends.

Though I no longer walk the paths of earth on my own two feet, I’m still here, as Spirit, traveling through life with God’s children. And my most meaningful times are still spending intimate moments with my friends… with you.

Are friendships important to you too? Then please, look within yourself to me, dear friend. Let’s hang out together as much as we can. And you may find that your friendship with me will help you nurture your friendships with other people. I so enjoy spreading love through my friends.

“Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command.” (John 15:13-14) … “My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.” (John 15:12)
